27 May 12 North Sports Classic
Vancouver, BC – Seattle Seahawks tight end Luke Willson is pleased to announce the inaugural 12 North Sports Classic, a multi-event extravaganza held in Tsawwassen, Vancouver, Burnaby and Haida Gwaii from June 24-29, 2016.
Willson, joined by Seattle teammates and other special guests, will host a youth football camp and celebrity flag football game at Swangard Stadium to help inspire the next generation of young football players, while also raising funds and awareness for Special Olympics BC and the Pacific Salmon Foundation.
“I couldn’t be more excited about these events,” said Willson, 26, entering his fourth season with the Seahawks. “The 12 North Sports Classic offers something for everyone; I wanted to create a camp that would be fun and inclusive for youth who wanted to try football for the first time, while still offering technical coaching for competitive players who want to work on drills that I practice to stay sharp.
“I want to thank the growing list of volunteers, sponsors, donors, coaches and fans for all their support in making these events possible. I look forwarding to seeing fans from both sides of the border and from across the Pacific Northwest this June.”
The Luke Willson Youth Football Camp (June 25th at Swangard Stadium) is open to players ages 8-18. The non-contact camp, where no prior football experience is required, consist of drills and stations, lunch, t-shirt, swag bag and a photo with Willson, followed by a Q&A with pro players and coaches. Space is limited, registration now open here.
Also included with the camp is a ticket to the BC Lions home opener at BC Place vs. the Calgary Stampeders that night. Willson and other special guests will be attending and meeting fans to sign autographs; specific details and timings will be announced soon.
“We are excited to be sending all the kids who attend my camp to cheer on the Lions, and I am appreciative for the BC Lions’ support for the 12 North Sports Classic,” said Willson. “It should be a fun day to celebrate and grow football.”
Following the youth camp, the 12 North Celebrity Flag Football Game, featuring “General Managers” Willson and Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen, will take place at Swangard Stadium. Willson and Virtanen will assemble their respective teams consisting of pro football players, alumni, hockey players, celebrities and media personalities from Vancouver/Seattle. In addition to the game, there will be raffles, auctions, a merchandise shop, concessions and a sponsor activation zone, which should provide fun for the entire family.
